Introduction

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. The field has gained rapid importance in view of ever increasing demand for power as electrical power is an integral part of modern life. The rapid advancements in generation, transmission and distribution technologies have opened up new frontiers. The field is very attractive and interesting, where mathematical analysis, hardware and intricate knowledge of programming is mandatory. Courses on circuit theory, electromagnetic theory, control systems, power system analysis, protection and switchgear, power electronics and utilization of power give exposure to Electrical Engineering. Courses on linear and digital electronics, digital signal processing, microprocessors and microcontrollers are flavours of Electronics Engineering. Courses on Fundamental programming, Data structures and Object oriented programming makes the field strong enough to control the power sector through programming.
