IPR Policy

INTRODUCTION:
The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) cell of Rajalakshmi Institute of technology was established in the year 2017. The IPR cell promotes the product development skills of the students and faculty by encouraging them to present the innovative ideas through Innovative Project Cell and mentors to transform the innovation into products that can be commercialized. The IPR cell educates the innovators on the IPR protection policy, laws, registration procedures , agreements and legislations, enforcement and violation rules. The management provides financial supports in patenting the ideas that leads to start-ups and entrepreneurship ventures. Appreciable numbers of innovative ideas have been filed for patents through the Intellectual Property Rights cell of the institution.

To be an Institution of excellence in innovation promotion ecosystem and transforming the innovative ideas into products which provide solutions to the challenges in the society.

Mission
To protect the intellectual property of the institution by providing an ambience to develop the innovative sparks into products which lead to start-ups and entrepreneurship ventures.

Objectives:
The Policy lays down the following six objectives:

  • To create awareness among faculty and students about economic, technical and social benefits of IPR
  • To motivate, guide and stimulate the generations of IPRs
  • To make known the legal and legislative frame work of IPR to patentees
  • To facilitate easy and user friendly administrative protocols
  • To strengthen and expand human resources and arrange lectures, training, research and skill building exercises in IPRs.
  • Enable the patentees to commercialise the patent and get economic benefits for IPRs
Salient Features:

The IPR cell of our college will monitor the implementation of the various objectives. It shall study IP processes to simplify and streamline them, redress the grievances, oversee capacity building of the various departments, search activities and promote commercialisation of IPRs and endeavour to provide a platform to connect innovative and creative students to potential industries, users, buyers and investors and funding agencies. It will coordinate with agencies at state and central levels and with ministries /departments of union Government. The data generated by the cell shall serve as a valuable resource for further improving future policy.
